The University of Perpetual Help System Laguna (UPHSL) proudly welcomed the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) for an institutional visit in line with UPHSL’s application to offer the Doctor in Library and Information Science (DLIS)—the first of its kind in the Philippines.

The visit was chaired by Prof. Kathleen Lourdes Obille along with esteemed Technical Panel members, Hon. Yolanda C. Granda, Chair, Professional Regulatory Board for Librarians, Hon. Corazon M. Nera, and Dr. Niño Naldoza. Also present were Ms. Remedios Talingdan, Education Program Specialist II and Ms. Clarizze Angelu Aquino, Project Technical Staff II, CHED-OPSD.

During the visit, the team conducted a comprehensive review of UPHSL's proposed DLIS program, examining the curriculum, faculty credentials, facilities, and institutional support. This assessment reflects CHED’s mission to uphold rigorous academic standards and prepare institutions for offering high-quality graduate education.

UPHSL remains steadfast in its commitment to deliver innovative, research-driven programs that respond to both national priorities and global trends. The university extends its heartfelt thanks to CHED and the technical panel for their guidance and valuable insights in strengthening UPHSL–s academic foundation.

This historic milestone not only emphasizes UPHSL's pursuit of academic leadership and excellence–it also marks a trailblazing moment in Philippine higher education.
